THEY SAID NOT TO BITE THE APPLE,
BUT I WAS BORN IN NEW YORK
THEY SAID I BIT A SILVER SPOON
BUT I THINK I BIT A FORK
THEY THOUGHT MY BITE WAS BAD
BUT THEY DIDN'T HEAR MY BARK
THEY SAID TO BITE THE ICE
BUT INSTEAD I ATE MY HEART
THEY SAID TO BITE THE DUST
BUT I CAME CLEAN LONG AGO
THEY SAID TO BITE THE BULLET
BUT THE POWDER WOULDN'T BLOW
THEY SAID I BIT OFF MORE
THAN I COULD CHEW BUT I SAID NAY
THEY SAID TO BITE MY TONGUE
I SAID I HAD A LOT TO SAY.
---------
THEY SAID NOT TO BITE THE APPLE,
BUT I WAS BORN IN NEW YORK
THEY SAID I BIT A SILVER SPOON
BUT I THINK I BIT A FORK
THEY THOUGHT MY BITE WAS BAD
BUT THEY DIDN'T HEAR MY BARK
THEY SAID TO BITE THE ICE
SO I DANCED THERE IN THE DARK
THEY SAID TO BITE THE DUST
BUT I CAME CLEAN LONG AGO
THEY SAID TO BITE THE BULLET
BUT THE POWDER WOULDN'T BLOW
THEY SAID I BIT OFF MORE
THAN I COULD CHEW BUT THEY WERE WRONG
THEY SAID TO BITE MY TONGUE
AND SO I WROTE THIS BLOODY SONG.

The Things I Will Say Are All True
the moon is a cheshire cat
smiling upon you,
the stars are his frozen tears
of pain, joy, and gospel
according to john, you
grow lovelier every year.
the moon is a loveseat
that hangs from a willow,
and i hear the view's mighty fair;
the stars are the cars
that our loved ones drive,
and the headlights that lead them there.

The Cat and the Milkman
The milkman, I tell you,
was all of a dither
when he saw what he'd taken
the pains to deliver
fast in the paws
of a cat black as coal,
sitting atop of
a telephone pole!
Though you'd never guess,
he was nevertheless
sitting atop of a telephone pole!
it was a morning
a regular tuesday
a workday, a schoolday,
and also a newsday;
but key to our story
and crucial to state:
the milk was delivered
each tuesday at eight.
eight ante meridian,
they let out the kitty and
picked up the milk in the morning at eight.
the cat, like a cat, was
attracted to dairy
(you'll notice that fact is
not extraordinary--
but slick was this cat,
he was quick, that was that,
's philosophy was to eat, drink, and be merry),
and he had a plot that
might not get him caught
to make off with the milk, though the prospect was scary
light was his step when
he slipped out the house
quiet as needs be
to reel in a mouse
so everyone feared
when the milk disappeared
that they ought to be on the lookout for a louse
but if they knew the ilk
of who'd taken their milk,
i tell you this truly they'd furrow their brows.
his method was nothing that
you could'na begat
'twas simple as find-
ing a pimple to pick at!
All fast in his paws
he did catch with his claws
a bottle of milk from the step where it sat
one must give pause
maybe drop one's jaws,
"fancy that, look, look at the milk thief--it's a cat!"
Terrified, the verifed
feline thief
ran half in fear and half
in disbelief
climbed to a height where
he knew or 'tleast thought
that he, sure as hea-
ven, would never be caught
by the well-meaning, old, son-of-a-daught-
er who brought the bought milk that the black cat sought
I'm certain you know where
this story is going
if not, then just follow
the sound of the meowing
up that pole where
the cat's sitting owing
to circumstances put in place by th'all-knowing
beyond his control
he's atop of the pole
as sure as the drought-tortured grass is not growing.

r2D2
I confess I fell for you on our first date:
your steel plate
just blew me away!
I love the way you roll along the sand
although you can't
even hold my hand.
Let me always be by your side,
don't ever hide,
I’ll be true to you,
because you R 2 Dear 2 me.
I'd never leave you out in acid rain
it'd be a pain
to have to build you again.
I love you even when you power down
when I'm around,
I have found...
I would never leave you behind,
I think you will find
that I'll be true to you,
because you R 2 Dea' 2 me.
Ooh, my baby, how you fill the void,
you're my favorite droid,
I’ll never get annoyed
when you steal all the covers on the bed,
and from toe to head
I’m in the cold air instead.
When we first met, oh you caught my eye,
and you can bet, you're still my favorite guy,
and if you ever got wet, I would rub you dry
and if you were dead, I promise I would cry!
I'll never forget the cheeky look in your eye
when I said, "this is between you and I" [sic]
I let it get to my head like wine
when you winked your led--I mean, your LED lights!
When you get older I will oil your joints
with droid joint oint-
ment that I will anoint
each night I’ll hook your batteries up to charge
although they are
abnormally large
you can bet that won't bother me
it's easy to see
that I’ll be true to you,
because you r 2 Dea' 2 me.
yeah you r2D2 me...
uh-huh you r2D2 me...
you know you r2D2 me...
because you r2D2 me...
my love, you r 2 Dea' 2 me.

Pilot Lights
Pilot lights
don't go out at night
don't go out when fires are dying
they are there to stay
until the end of days
they will comfort you when you are crying.
Pilot lights
are a lovely sight
to behold after goodbyeing;
they will light the way
back to the path from which you strayed--
they can see that you are trying.
Pilot lights
never get in fights,
never yell at you for lying.
They will still be there,
even when you're scared,
when your eyes show no sign of ever drying.
Pilot lights
are like fireflies:
they can teach you tricks like flying.
If you listen, Dear,
you can almost hear
their music over your sighing.
don't go out at night
don't go out when fires are dying
they are there to stay
until the end of days
they will comfort you when you are crying.

I'm a Lover
I'm a loser
I proudly carry my balloon
thank you, grazie, merci beacoux
a camoflouged parrot flies towards the moon.
regina, regina,
viva
la france!
sparrow: sew calico patch on my pants
build a nest, and lay for to rest
pink easter eggs taste the very best.
feathery, furry, Don't you worry
grab your coat, dear, and let's hurry.
Sing along, dear, at the opera
glasses-- cheers!-- astound the masses
(ooh) faces of broken (ooh) china dolls
(ooh) sing to you their memories when (ooh) you were just a child.
manicurists tie my shoes
rocking horseflies and fake tattoos
bears are dancing, cows romancing
circus show is blinding, entrancing
circling like a hawk above me
photographic mem'ries of me
(ooh) with a bad case (ooh) of the stripes.
(ooh) American Flag, Oh (ooh) my! What a sight!
Frau spots, would you like some sasparilla?
banana hands-- beware the gorilla!
Regina, Regina,
viva
la creatitudes
Beware all the bad girls and girls with bad attitudes
the evil sorceress laughs and she sings
and loves FRENCH fries more than anything

Letter From My Present Future To My Future Past
It's not quite cold enough to numb the pain,
just enough to make me wish I were back in bed again.
I'm not just touching the sky, I'm kissing it,
but somewhere there's a point to all this and I'm missing it.
Yes, I still love you, and I miss you, believe me,
but I still can't decide if I'd cry if you leave me.
You let your hair grow out, you're lookin' like Nick Drake,
and who we are keeps changing like the Swan in Swan Lake.
I'm sitting with my legs dangling over the Seine,
I kinda wanna go back, do it all over again.
I've seen the whole world, almost seen it twice,
and settling down has started to sound kind of nice.
The good days aren't over, but you can't make 'em last--
So ends this letter from my Present Future to my Future Past.
just enough to make me wish I were back in bed again.
I'm not just touching the sky, I'm kissing it,
but somewhere there's a point to all this and I'm missing it.
Yes, I still love you, and I miss you, believe me,
but I still can't decide if I'd cry if you leave me.

The past is what I never care to be
You murder my past, you kill my memory
but murder my future and you murder me
Who am I? Who are you?
in the past we've been two-faced
i'm in god's living room
his clock is too fast-paced
if god and the devil
are one and the same
and Abraxas passes time
by making life a fucking game
then tell me do I have a right
not to be forgotten
when you leave a person overnight
and wake up and they're rotten?
then tell me do I have a right
not to be forgotten
when you leave a person overnight
and wake up and they're rotten?
I suffer from an uncommon disease
I fear that no one will remember me
Like Father Mackenzie or Eleanor Rigby
I'm far too important
though I've nothing done
that makes me really worth
being referred to as someone
i've got too much to do
too many days to waste
my past is full of nightmares
and they've left a bitter taste
so tell me do I have a right
not to be forgotten
when you leave a person overnight
and wake up and they're rotten?
so tell me do I have a right
not to be forgotten

Playtime
i'd be an infamous outlaw
in the wild, wild west
i'd put on my hat and chaps each morn'
pull on my cowhide vest
i would swagger through the swinging doors
of the saloon in tombstone town
and i'd save the indian chieftain
and i'd shoot the barman down
and the sherrif would chase after me
but i was never caught
and when the day was done i had won
every fight i'd fought
and each night when i was tired
i'd ride toward the setting sun
and i'd curl up by my campfire
bein' a cowgirl's pretty fun
some days i'd be a fearsome pirate
and i'd sail the seven seas
and i'd be the most courageous
and my crew would worship me
and i would be the finest captain
who had ever owned a boat
and i'd sail and sail in circles
all around my castle's moat
and then i'd sail to neverland
and fight with captain hook
and i'd win from him the gold and coins
that he'd already took
and i'd wear a great big pirate hat
encrusted with rare jewels
and i'd bury all my treasure,
bein' a pirate's pretty cool
i'd be a queen of diamonds
like in a deck of cards
and I would lounge around in furs and silks,
at tea with the queen of hearts
i would spend three hours bathing
in a tub of wine and roses
and then i would jump on my grand bed
and never stub my toeses
and i'd have the finest gowns
of any queen there ever was
and i would wear a great big silver crown
just because, because.
and i'd take off my crown
and go have lunch when i was done
so i would not get jelly on my gown
queendom's pretty fun
